Hugo Calderano hopes to continue his rise in table tennis through Tokyo 2020.
The IOC's Thomas Bach addressed a cancellation of Tokyo 2020 with in a BBC interview. While this one fan dearly wants to hold out hope that next summer we'll have a 'normal' Olympics, the what ifs of a continued-in-some-degree pandemic is certainly in the back of every interested parties' mind. In response, Tokyo Olympic Organizing Committee's Toshiro Muto offered that "countermeasures" were being considered, without elaborating on what exactly that means. How, and if, the Olympics proceed without additional impact will obviously be the leading story in global sports from here through next summer. In the meantime, I'll put my blinders on, cross my fingers, and fully expect to be visiting Tokyo in 2021.
