More: The first Alpine Ski World Championships were held in 1931, and are now held every two years in between the Winter Olympic cycle. These Championships are expected to feature athletes from more than 70 nations, in 11 events (5 men's races, 5 women's, and a mixed national team event). This is the sixth time the U.S. is hosting.
Fun Fact: Christl Cranz (GER) is the most-medalled skier in Worlds history, with 15, mostly from the 1930's. Of current skiers, Aksel Lund Svindal has the most, with eight overall.
