What: The Africa U-23 Cup of Nations

Where: Dakar and M,bour, Senegal

When: November 28 - December 12, 2015

Competing: Algeria, Egypt, Mali, Nigeria, Senegal, South Africa, Tunisia, Zambia

More: This is only the second edition of the tournament, which acts as the Olympic qualifier for the region. Gabon won the 2013 event.

Fun Fact: The DR Congo was the original host for the tournament, but in March 2015, Senegal was asked to host. The top three teams will qualify for the Rio Olympics.

November 04:  Asian Canoe Sprint Championships

What: The Canoe Sprint Asian Championships 2015

Where: Palembang, Indonesia

When: November 04 - 07, 2015

More: 12 events in Olympic class canoe and kayak sprints, plus 15 events in non-Olympic and junior competition. The Championships also serve as an Olympic qualifier for Rio.

Fun Fact: The event also features dragon boat racing for men and women.

Where: Glasgow, Scotland

When: October 23 - November 01, 2015

More: The top eight teams in both men's and women's competitions, plus the individual apparatus medalists, will qualify for the Olympics next year.

Fun Fact: This is the first time Scotland is hosting the Artistic Worlds.

More: 260 boxers to compete across 10 weight categories in this biennial competition, the first to be held in the Middle East
