The annual competition honors the single best all-around skater for both men and women across four distances each.

un Fact: The Netherlands' Sven Kramer is the defending men's champion, and winner of seven of the last nine titles. Three-time winner Martina Sablikova of the Czech Republic is the women's defending champion.

The schedule is one 500m on one day, and one 1000m the second day for an overall points ranking of sprint championship.

Fun Fact:
The U.S. and Russia both had two medals each last year in Kazakhstan to lead the table.

14 events total for men and women across traditional 500m - 10000m, and including a mass start event for each gender.

​Fun Fact: The annual Championships have been held since 1996, and are separate from the World All-Around Championships, and the World Sprint Championships.

January 09:  European Speed Skating Championships

What: The ISU European Speed Skating Championships 2016

Where: Minsk, Belarus

When: January 09 - 10, 2016

More: Competition will be held for all-around titles only; Sven Kramer and Ireen Wust, both of the Netherlands, are the defending champions in the annual event.

Fun Fact: This is the last Championships for all-around competition; from here on out, only single-distance titles will be honored.
