What: The 2014 Davis Cup by BNP Paribas World Group Final

Where: Paris, France

When: November 21 - 23, 2014

Competing: Switzerland vs France

More: The men's version of the "World Cup of Tennis" features two singles players and one doubles team from each nation in a best-of-five match competition for bragging rights to the national team world title for the year.  France is officially the higher seed from the start of the tournament, but Switzerland with Roger Federer and Stanislaw Wawrinka should be formidable opponents.

Fun Fact: "The world’s largest annual international team competition in sport" started in 1900, with the current format of 16 nations in the elite World Group division starting in 1981. 122 nations participated in this year's various divisional competitions.

What: The 2014 Barclays ATP World Tour Finals

Where: London, England

When: November 9 - 16, 2014

Competing: The top 8 singles players / doubles teams from the season will be entered.

More: This is the 6th year in a row in which London is hosting.  Competition format is round-robin of two groups of 4 players (or doubles teams), with the top two in each moving to knockout semifinals and finals.  The singles and doubles champions are considered the season champions, despite what Slams success has occurred.

Fun Fact: Roger Federer (SUI) has the most singles titles, with 6.  Pete Sampras (USA) and Ivan Lendl (TCH) each have 5.

What: The 2014 Fed Cup World Group Final

Where: Prague, Czech Republic

When: November 8 - 9, 2014

Competing: Germany vs Czech Republic

More: "The World Cup of Tennis" features two singles players and one doubles team from each nation in a best-of-five match competition for bragging rights to the national team world title for the year.

Fun Fact: Germany have not played in the final since 1992, when they won.  The Czechs, though, have won in 2011 and 2012.

What: The 2014 BNP Paribas WTA Finals

Where: Singapore

When: October 17 - 26, 2014

Competing: The top 8 ranked singles players at the end of the season compete, as do the top 8 doubles teams.

More: This is the 44th staging of the event, and the 1st year Singapore is hosting.  Competition format is round robin of two groups of 4 players / doubles teams, setting up single elimination semifinals and finals.  Serena Williams (USA) is the defending singles champion.

Fun Fact: The Singapore Indoor Stadium's last major hosted sports event was the Singapore Darts Masters in August.

What:  The United States Open Tennis Championship

Where:  New York City, USA

When:  August 25 - September 8, 2014

More:  The USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center was dedicated in 2006, and includes the main Arthur Ashe Stadium and Louis Armstrong Stadium, in a total of 33 courts.

Fun Fact:  The 1st US Open was held in Newport, Rhode Island on grass courts in 1881.
