Where: Maceio, Brazil

When: September 27 - October 05

More: The biennial Championships have been held since 1951.

Fun Fact: Brazil has won 29 of 30 titles, with the only exception Argentina in 1964. ARG has finished second 17 times.

Where: Cartagena, Colombia

When: September 26 - October 04, 2015

More: The Championship is now held every two years, having started in 1951.

Fun Fact: Brazil and Peru are the only nations to have won the title, led by Brazil's 18 (including the last 10) to Peru's 12.

Where: Belgium - Antwerp, and the Netherlands - Apeldoorn, Eindhoven, Rotterdam (Finals)

When: September 26 - October 04, 2015

Competing: Azerbaijan, Belarus, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Slovenia, Turkey

More: This is the 29th edition of the biennial event; Russia is the defending champion from 2013.

Fun Fact: Only six teams competed in the inaugural competition in 1949, and featured teams from Czechoslovakia and the Soviet Union.

September 25:  NORCECA Women's Volleyball Championship

What: The NORCECA Continental Championship for Women

Where: Michoacan, Mexico

When: September 25 - October 03, 2015

More: The biennial competition for North & Central American and Caribbean nations has been held since 1969.

Fun Fact: Cuba has won the event 13 times, with the USA second with seven titles. The Dominican Republic in 2009 and Mexico in 1969 and 1971 are the only other nations to have won.

Where: (Japan) First and Second rounds - Hamamatsu, Hiroshima, Osaka, Toyama; Third round - Tokyo


When: September 08 - 23, 2015
Competing: Argentina, Australia, Canada, Egypt, Iran, Italy, Japan, Poland, Russia, Tunisia, United States, Venezuela


More: Held every four years, the World Cup acts as Olympic qualification and is a separate event from the World Championships and World League. The women's World Cup was held also in Japan in August.


Fun Fact: The top two teams will qualify for the Rio Olympics
