More: Brazil is the defending champion, and has won the event five of the six previous times (Argentina the surprise winner in 2006). The top two finishers qualify to the 2015 Women's World Cup, with the third-place finisher earning a playoff bid to the Cup. Also, the top four finishers qualify to the 2015 Pan American Games. Finally, the top finisher - that is not Brazil, which is already qualified - qualifies to the 2016 Olympics.
Fun Fact: This is the seventh version of the quadrennial event, originally named the Campeonato Sudamericano Femenino, and the second straight to be held in Ecuador.
