The 2023 World Wrestling Championships ended today in Belgrade after more than a week's worth of competition. This was the 18th edition of the event as a combined freestyle (men's and women's) and Greco-Roman championships. The Serbian capital also hosted the 2022 edition.
The former Soviet Union aside, Team Japan lead the overall all-time medal table with 284 headed into 2023. â The championships featured events in ten weight divisions for each of the three disciplines; although only six each are featured currently at the Olympics. âIn the end, Teams Japan, with six gold and 12 overall medals, and Team USA (4, 14) took the top spots of the overall medal table. 28 total official national teams won at least one medal, including host Serbia (five overall), Ukraine (five), France (two), Ecuador (one), San Marino (one), and Albania (one).
