Who Won The 2023 FIS Nordic World Ski Championships?The 2023 FIS Nordic World Ski Championships ended today after two weeks of competition in Planica. This is the first time Slovenia has hosted the event, held at the Planica Nordic Center - the only venue in the world with eight (!) ski jumping hills. Now held biennially in odd-numbered years, these championships were the 43rd edition and featured all three disciplines of Nordic skiing: cross-country, ski jumping, and Nordic Combined. Twelve cross-country events were contested, seven in ski jumping, and five in Nordic combined, in a variety of men's, women's, and mixed team events. In the end, Team Norway's 27 overall medals (12 gold) topped the final medal table across all the events. That total included a sweep of all the titles in both men's cross-country skiing and Nordic combined events. Norwegian stars Johannes Hoesflot Klaebo won five medals, Jarl Magnus Riiber four golds, Paal Golberg four medals, and Simen Hegsted Kuruger three gold. Other highlights included Jessie Diggins' first individual win for Team USA at a cross-country skiing worlds, and home Team Slovenia' two ski jumping world titles.
