10 new world records were set over the course of the tournament, including 3 in the record books for Beate Gauss (GER), who set a new high in the 50m rifle prone event, and shares two in rifle team events. A surprise star of the tournament, Gauss didn't even win gold in that prone individual event, but did win gold in the 3-position, where she was ranked 49th going in.
The Championships also served as an initial qualifier to the Rio Games, and ISSF awarded 64 allocation spots, starting the road to an eventual total of 390 shooters to compete in 2016. And, with 9 of those initial slots, China looks to be on its way to a successful 2016, too.
