#JusticeForFloyd: Text 'Floyd' to 55156 to demand that the officers who MURDERED George Floyd are charged for their heinous crime. Sadly what happened to George Floyd is not an isolated incident. I see videos almost every day of police brutality, racial injustice, discrimination and hate in this country. And somehow some people still don't think we have a race problem. To my white friends: please don't stay silent because silence is complicity. Let's recognize our privilege and speak up on behalf of the inequality and stand up for those who have been disenfranchised. We need justice, we need accountability and we need real leadership in this country which I believe will start with a much needed change in the White House this November. We need to come together to make sure that Trump does not get another four years in office. Though he has not created these problems in America he has stoked the fires and furthered the divides and it needs to stop. #BlackLivesMatter

Lots of Olympic sport athletes and affiliates posting on Instagram, and other social media, in support of the weekend protestors and voices for reform in the United States, including Gus Kenworthy, Colleen Quigley, Simone Manuel, Olympics.365, Surya Bonaly, Christian Taylor, Nick Symmonds, Serena Williams, Devon Allen, Katerina Stefanidi, Dina Asher-Smith, Rose Lavelle, Dylan Moscovitch, Matt Anderson, Mo Farah, Mikaela Shiffrin, Greg Rutherford, Maame Biney, Steve Nash, Shaun White, and the U.S. Track & Field Association, just to name a very few.

This helps. Thank you to all the diverse and global community members expressing their support for racial justice and the memory of #GeorgeFloyd. Let's hope the drum beat continues until real change is affected. Act, vote, donate, speak up.

I can’t and still can’t find the words to say or express how sad I feel.... but she found them for me. She found them for so many of us. A lot of us are numb... lost for words... I know I am. This is a difficult time. A lot of us growing up were taught to pray “Let thy kingdom come,” this is what I continue to pray for in addition to so many that have been hurt/killed, or simply traumatized by how people of a different color are treated. The worst part is this is nothing new, “it’s just filmed.” I’m with a heavy heart. I’m lost for words. Video from @wealth

“USATF stands in solidarity with all people, including our athletes and members, who are affected by the egregious racist and violent acts in our country. As a federation, we condemn the violence against black men and women in our country and we stand against all forms of racism, bigotry and violence.” - Max Siegel, USATF CEO; USATF Board of Directors

George Floyd mattered I’ve wrote many things down the last few days and I’m not sure what is right. Since becoming a father things feel different, my heart grew to another size. I was silent before and although I still don’t know what to say or how to appropriately do so. I’ve traveled the world and met so many individuals that are different from me that have changed my life for the better and given me a chance. WE ARE ALL PEOPLE!

Woken up with a heavy heart for the past few days. ⠀ ⠀ Been avoiding certain socials and quickly tapping through stories to avoid videos. A lot to process and got even harder seeing inflammatory remarks and dangerous racist tropes dragged out as the week progressed!!! ⠀ ⠀ It’s heartbreaking and makes me so angry + sad to think that ANOTHER black life has been taken in this way. Can’t stop thinking about it. ⠀ RIP George Floyd and we need justice and real, progressive change. It’s 2020. Not 1820 or 1920. 2020. And this is still happening. ⠀ ⠀ I take hope from the fact that SO many people, from all backgrounds, nationalities and races are quite rightly heartbroken and disgusted by this - and vocalising it! ⠀ ⠀ #JusticeForGeorgeFloyd #BlackLivesMatter ♥️

This is a white problem. How are WE Caucasian people going to create equality? Listen. Read. Walk in others shoes. Organize. Sacrifice. Change. Support. VOTE! These are the MINIMUM of REPARATIONS.

One of the things that drew me to track and field in the first place is how diverse it is. Watch any Olympic Games or World Championships and you will see athletes of all shapes, sizes, and hues competing together on the track. That wonderful oval doesn’t give a shit what color your skin is. I wish that was the case off the track too. I believe in equality. I believe black lives matter, I believe all lives matter. Stay safe tonight everyone.

As a society we need to do better. We have to. It’s our job go speak up. Donate. Use your platform. Whether big or small. Don’t be silent, stand up for what’s right because this is a war that has been going on for way too long. Black lives do matter. My life matters. My dads life matters. My brother and my moms life matters. George Floyd’s life mattered. And every single black man or woman who died because of what they look like. Their. Life. Mattered! Enough is enough. It’s 2020 and something needs to change. #blacklivesmatter #enoughisenough #beapartofthesolution

...Maybe it’s not my problem... I’m dealing with so many things right now. Too many things. I can’t bear any more burden. It’s not directly affecting me, so it won’t matter if I don’t stand up, right now...wrong. Go ahead, tell me I’m an athlete, and that I should stay in my lane. Tell me I’m made for your entertainment. Tell me to stay out of politics and topics of this nature... and then go look at yourself in the mirror, and say whatever you need to say to help yourself fall asleep at night. And I hope, as we all fall asleep tonight and every night hereafter until we MAKE this world RIGHT and we ACT with respect towards each other always, that we hear these three words echoing in our minds—“I can’t breathe.” #KindnessWins #justiceforgeorgefloyd

January 2010 - 4 Continents Championships. . This is Asher and I at our first 4 Continents Championships and, eight years later, we found ourselves in a broadcast booth together at CBC and now co-hosting #ThatFigureSkatingShow. . But this post isn't about that or me. It's about the relentless racism and injustices happening in the world. All over the news we see horrible things happening to people because of the colour of their skin. Unthinkable horrors that are SHOCKINGLY frequent. This is woven into our societal fabric. How do I know this? Because it has been happening THROUGHOUT history and is STILL HAPPENING NOW! Because it happens all around us and most of the time we don't even notice or give it any deep thought. White privilege is real and it's something that I am ashamed to say I hadn't thought about deeply enough. It isn't enough that I accept people in spite of, and because of, their differences. There have been times that I've been silent when I should have spoken up. Looking back now I realize how much of a tip-toed dance we do in social situations to avoid being "that person" and "going there.” We don't address the difficult things for fear of being ostracized...that too is white privilege. This great man is one of a few black skaters who competed at the international level and I rarely allowed myself to REALLY think about how they felt about it or had been treated. We become so accustomed to the way things are that we don't question if they are right. . Enough is enough. I'm speaking up for those who are oppressed. I'm speaking up for those who feel fear because of the colour of their skin. Every act of racial violence affects every person from that community. It is not enough to NOT be racist. EVERYONE must start speaking up and becoming an activist in order for us to see real change. . If you wouldn't allow someone you love to be treated a certain way, then you shouldn't let them treat any innocent person or living creature in the same manner. So speak up! You have a voice and a platform to do so. Speak up because racism can only be solved by taking a stand against hate, greed and oppressive entitlement...and it's everywhere.

It was sad to witness a peaceful protest turn so violent but the message still stands ... #blacklivesmatter and what happened in Minneapolis is unacceptable and something has to change. It’s not enough to sit back and watch. Go to my stories to do your part and join the movement. #RIPgeorgefloyd ?

Black lives matter and my sons will grow up to know that, no question. I can only promise that I’ll always endeavour to support wherever and whenever I can, donate and fight against the racism which still exists. #blacklivesmatter (Disabling comments because I just wanted to make a statement)
