Brazil didn't have a particularly strong Championships, earning only 1 medal, albeit a gold in the 49FX class. They are a strong sailing nation, though, with 15 total medals in Olympic history. But the Olympic leader at 64 total medals, GBR, did have a strong Worlds, qualifying in all classes and tying atop the medal table with 4 medals along with FRA and AUS. (FRA impressively won the golds race, at 3). The Worlds medal table also was a strong representation of sailing, with 17 nations medalling, including ISR, GRE, AUT, and POL. That sets Rio 2016 to be a strong and competitive sailing event, again proving the global distribution and popularity of the sport.
