Who Won The 51st FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Championships?
407 athletes entered the competition, from 72 national teams, across men's and women's team, individual all-around, and individual apparatus events. Since 2001, the Championships have been held annually except in Olympic years, with the team event specifically omitted in the one year after an Olympic Games.
Consistent with the sporting world's general ban, Team Russian and Belarusian athletes were barred from competition. As these Championships was also a Paris 2024 qualification event - the top three men's and women's teams secured spots - this posed a significant issue in the early stages of Olympic qualification. In the women's competition, Teams USA, Great Britain, and Canada (!) qualified for Paris in the women's competition, while Teams China, Japan and Great Britain did so for the men. In the final standings, Teams USA and Japan both finished with eight medals overall, followed by Team Great Britain with six and Team China with five. All five of those national teams won two individual gold medals each.
