Gliwice, Poland and Ljubljana, Slovenia also helped host competition that began on August 26. The event was originally awarded to Russia, but was re-awarded to the two Eastern European nations after the invasion of Ukraine.
24 national teams participated in the 29th edition of the quadrennial event. The final national team standings have Italy in first, followed in order by Poland, Brazil, Slovenia, France, United States, Ukraine (!), Argentina, Serbia, Netherlands, Turkey, Japan, Iran, Cuba, Germany, Tunisia, Canada, Mexico, Egypt, Bulgaria, Qatar, Puerto Rico, Cameroon, and China.
