Team United States claimed the FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup 2022 title today, after 10 days of competition in Sydney, Australia. 12 teams contested, which represents a drop from the 16 teams in the previous eight editions.
This was the 19th edition of the quadrennial championship; the United States had won ten previous titles, and this 2022 title is its 11th. Team China finished second, after its 61-83 loss in the championship game, while Team Australia rebounded from a tough semifinal defeat to claim the bronze medal ahead of Team Canada. The rest of the standings in order behind those four are: Teams Belgium, Serbia, France, Puerto Rico, Japan, South Korea, Mali, and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
