Who Won The World Fencing Championships 2023?
The Senior Fencing World Championships Milan 2023 concluded today after nine days of competition. This was the 69th edition of the official championships, and the first to be hosted by Milan, despite Italy hosting five times previously (Rome 1955 & 1982, Turin 1961 & 2006, and Catania 2011).
The full slate of fencing disciplines were contested - 12 medla events across separate men's and women's individual and team competition in foil, sabre, and epee. Teams Italy, France, and Hungary dominated the all-time medal table entering 2023.
In Milan, host Team Italy won the overall medal table with 10, including the most gold (4). 15 nations won at least one medal across the 12 events, including fencing stalwarts Hungary, United States, and France as well as Venezuela, Bulgaria, Greece, and Hong Kong.
