Who Won The 2023 IHF Men's Handball World Championship?
This was the 28th edition of the championship, and the first to be (co) hosted by Poland. Sweden, meanwhile had hosted four times prior - 1954, 1967, 1993, and 2011. 32 nations participated in the preliminary round starting on January 11; Team Denmark entered as the two-time defending champion.
And, the Danes finished on top this year as well for their third straight world title to accompany their two Olympic medals from Rio 2016 (gold) and Tokyo 2020 (silver). This was the first three-peat in the history of the championship, and Team Denmark defeated their Olympic nemesis in Team France to do it.
Congratulations to Team Denmark! In addition to the championship, the Danes also earned a qualification spot for Paris 2024. With Team France already qualified as host, a rematch might certainly be in the cards.
