Who Won The 2023 ISU World Short Track Speed Skating Championships?
The 2023 World Short Track Speed Skating Championships ended today after three days of competition in Seoul. This was the 47th edition of the event since 1976 and the fourth-ever in South Korea (Jeonju 2001, Gangneung 2008, Seoul 2016).
Host Team South Korea entered the championships with the most-ever medals in event history. But the squad may feel disappointed in this year's performance, as it came in second on home turf in the overall medal count, with six behind Team Netherlands' eight overall. Park Ji Won won the only South Korean gold, in both the men's 1000 and 1500 meter races. Meanwhile, the Dutch swept the women's races, with Xandra Velzeboar winning four titles and Suzanne Schulting three - both totals including the Mixed Relay title. Teams Italy, China, Canada, and Belgium also made the final medal table with at least one podium finish.
