Who Won The 2023 IFSC Climbing World Championships?
The 2023 IFSC Climbing World Championships ended today after 12 days of competition in Bern, Switzerland. This was the 18th edition of the biennial championships, and the third time Switzerland has hosted after Geneva in 1995 and Winterthur in 2001.
Competition was held for men and women in boulder, lead, and speed categories, and a combined (boulder + lead) event. Bern also hosted a Paraclimbing event. 10 Olympic quotas were on offer; Paris 2024 will feature both the speed and combined events, expanded from a single combined in the sport's debut at Tokyo 2020.
With three medals overall (gold in combined and boulder, silver in lead), 2020 Olympic champion Janja Garnbret was the star of Bern 2023. Fellow Olympic medalist Jakub Schubert followed close behind with two golds (lead and combined).
