They Are The Champions: 2024 Aquatics Worlds

2/18/2024

Who Won The 2024 World Aquatics Championships?

Picture
The 2024 World Aquatics Championships ended today after more than two weeks of competition in Doha. Despite hosting swimming World Cup events multiple times and the 2014 swimming short course worlds, this is the first time the Qatari city has hosted the event. This was also the first time the championships were hosted in the Middle East.

A total of 75 events were held across traditional disciplines of swimming & open water swimming, diving & high diving, artistic swimming, and water polo. With 293 gold and 715 overall, Team USA led the all-time medal table entering 2024.

With the unusual scheduling of this 21st edition due to Covid-19-related impacts to the preceding edition in Japan, and the proximity to the Paris 2024 Summer Games, a number of star athletes did not participate, and national teams' rosters were significantly reduced.

Team China took the overall medal table, winning 13 overall in diving, nine in artistic swimming, and a surprising 11 in swimming, while Team USA finished with 23 overall across all disciplines. A total of 37 national teams won at least one medal, including a remarkable 18 winning at least one gold in the swimming events.

Congratulations to all the medalists! Take a look at a recap below, and find complete results at worldaquatics.com.
