They Are The Champions: 2024 Indoor Track & Field Worlds

3/3/2024

Who Won The 2024 World Athletics Indoor Championships?

Picture
The 2024 World Athletics Indoor Championships ended today in Glasgow after a weekend of action across 26 indoor track & field events. This was the 19th edition of the normally alternate-year championships, and the second time to be held in the United Kingdom (Birmingham, 2003).

Although indoor events are not Olympic events in track & field, and are often at reduced distances (e.g., 60- meter sprints), they can give an indication of form and preparation for the outdoor season, particularly in Olympic years.

Entering 2024, Team United States was by far the all-time overall medal winner, with 268. And, the Americans took the title in 2024 as well, with 20 overall medals compared to second-place in overall standings Team Netherlands' five.

Congratulations to all the medalists! A quick recap is below, and complete results can be found online at worldathletics.org.
