A Little Roundup
Tokyo 2020 released their "positioning, principles, and roadmap" documents for the rescheduled games this week. While these were presented with some fanfare, and do provide a level of framework for finalizing the 2021 plans, I don't see guarantees that we'll actually have the Games. I know, that level of confidence isn't forthcoming soon, but it certainly is the most pressing question. That, and what exactly does "simplified" mean for all of the athletes, visitors, officials, etc.?
Although track and field got started in some parts over the last week or so, things got more headline-y with the "Impossible Games" at Oslo's Bislett Stadium yesterday. Karsten got a world's best, Jakob got a European record (beating the unfortunately-cold weathered Kenyans while at it), Mondo got an outdoor win, but the highlight result note for me was seeing Therese Johaug run the 10,000 meters in a respectable under-32 minutes. Who knew the cross-country skiing star had track credentials, too?!
