UCLA Represented at Tokyo 2020

Forty-Three Bruins Continue an Olympic Tradition

If you know me, you know I'm not just a UCLA alum...I'm a UCLA sports fan! And not only is the school's rich sports history worthy of praise, its representation in the Olympics is deep as well. Well-known and iconic Olympians from Rafer Johnson to Jackie Joyner-Kersee, Karch Kiraly to Mitch Gaylord, Dawn Harper to Gail Devers, Lisa Fernandez to Ato Boldon, have peppered Summer Olympic rosters since Antwerp 1920. Scan the names of UCLA-affiliated athletes at the Games and the school's Olympic success beats many nations'.

Here's a look at the UCLA Bruins competing at Tokyo 2020.* The list of 43 athletes named below just outpaces the roster of 36 for Rio 2016, and matches the size of both the Slovakian and Ecuadoran squads.

Note, there are also seven Bruin staffers scheduled to go to Tokyo as part of Team USA coaching contingents, across water polo, softball, and volleyball.
